Making & Tinkering Spring Break Camp

April 3-6, 2018

9 AM-Noon

Come  explore, learn, and play delving into some of Knock Knock Children’s Museum’s most popular projects. Making & Tinkering Spring Break Camp provides an unique opportunity for children to dive into a week of Art Making, Tinkering, Engineering and Robotics. Each session of the 4-day camp is designed to challenge and delight while including opportunities for guided play in our amazing Learning Zones. Designed and lead by Knock Knock Learning Innovation Staff, camp includes daily story time and healthy snacks.

  • Tuesday – Large Scale & Messy –  Help design and create a large scale multi-part mural. Learn about the history of murals and practice specialized techniques including gridding up and pouncing, as we transfer our own designs to re-purposed vinyl banners which will be woven into our Big Backyard Fence.
  • Wednesday – Tinkering Installation: Box City – Tap into your inner architect, city planner, engineer and designer as we create an interactive child-sized built environment in Knock Knock’s Big Backyard. A fun time for team work, problem solving, play and exploration.
  • Thursday – Engineer A Sculpture – Build your own mixed media sculpture or two (or three) — using repurposed materials where there’s no limit to imagination.  Hone fine motor skills, challenge design sense and rethink materials as we make unique, innovative 3-d artworks.
  • Friday – Robotics & Coding 101 – Learn the basics of coding as we try our hands at programming using KIBO to activate the sculptures created on Thursday. Working together, students will explore simple coding to create bots that dance, wiggle and move. Our creations will then be filmed creating a presentation that will be shared with parents at the end of the session.

Space limited to 15 campers.
