Love Our Lakes
Knock Knock Children’s Museum is excited to announce the launch of our new education initiative, “Love Our Lakes.” This program is designed to inspire young children to understand how interconnected water systems affect the environment and their daily lives. Together, we can help preserve our region’s natural beauty and vital water resources!
Launch Event Details
Date: October 19, 2024
Location: Knock Knock Children’s Museum, Baton Rouge, LA
Schedule of Activities:
- 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.: Community Clean-Up in collaboration with Clean Pelican
- Clean Pelican will coordinate a litter pick-up around the museum. The first 200 volunteers to participate will earn free admission passes to the museum, generously sponsored by Baton Rouge Water Company. Clean Pelican is a local non-profit working to create and maintain a clean, beautiful community where businesses and families want to stay, work and play.
*Note: The community cleanup may not be suitable for very young children. All children under age 17 must be accompanied by adult and closely supervised.

- 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Interactive Water Play
- With admission to the museum, children can explore and learn about water systems in our museum’s Big Backyard, supported by the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H Youth Wetlands Program and Louisiana’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
Why Get Involved?
The “Love Our Lakes” initiative aims to foster an early appreciation for conserving our natural resources. This program is designed to help children understand the importance of preventing litter and preserving clean water for fish and wildlife habitats, food production, and community health. Ongoing activities at the museum will help children learn about our vital waterways and how we can protect them.
