Opening Doors—Helping Your Child Start Their Reading Journey

Are you looking for ways to support your beginning reader?

Are you ready to begin your journey to teach your little one how to read?

If you said, “Yes,” then we have a workshop just for you! Join Knock Knock Children’s Museum and Louisiana’s 2024 State Teacher of the Year, Kylie Altier on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a parent workshop titled, Opening Doors—Helping Your Child Start Their Reading Journey. In this interactive workshop, Kylie will provide parents with practical strategies to help build and support their child’s phonemic awareness, boost confidence, and foster a love of reading at home. Parents will learn how to make reading fun, choose the right books, and encourage literacy development in everyday moments. And if that’s not enough, each parent will leave with a free toolkit designed by Kylie and used with her own child and with her students.

There is no cost to attend but registration is limited, and everyone (parent and child) MUST register.

Who may attend: 1 parent and 1 child per family

Where: Knock Knock Children’s Museum, 1900 Dalrymple Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808

When: Monday, March 24, 2025. 5:00-6:00 p.m.
