Earn & Learn Financial Literacy Weekend
We are putting the FUN back in fundamental financial literacy for children! Our annual “Earn and Learn—Financial Literacy Weekend” will take place Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14. Admission on Sunday is free to the public.
The Earn and Learn initiative introduces children to financial literacy through fun, hands-on activities. Visitors can complete jobs in 18 Learning Zones to earn wooden tokens, which they can save or spend at the Earn & Learn Shop. LCPA volunteers will guide children through tasks such as working in a farmer’s market, garage, or restaurant, and even donating food, helping them explore career pathways, money identification, and financial decision-making.
Through pretend play activities, families and children will:
- Explore earning wages, the difference between wants and needs, making thoughtful choices, and giving back.
- Gain a practical understanding of budgeting and prioritization.
- Introduce basic numerical skills by learning the value of items.
- Experience the rewards of financial planning and decision-making by earning credit and redeeming items in the Earn & Learn Shop.
