Adventuresome Eating Club

All Ages

September 20 at 10:00 am 12:00 pm

This event has been rescheduled from its original date on 9/13 due to Hurricane Francine.

The Adventuresome Eating Club is a fun and interactive program designed to encourage young children to explore the flavors of seasonally fresh fruits and vegetables, prepare simple and inexpensive recipes, and take part in the joy of cooking together as a family.

In partnership with the LSU Ag Center’s Harvest of the Month program and Seeds to Success programs, the program will engage children in hands-on learning about healthy eating through food exploration and preparation. By making healthy eating fun and adventurous, Knock Knock aims to help create a foundation for lifelong wellness.

The official kick-off event will be held on Friday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Knock Knock Children’s Museum and is included with regular museum admission. Kids and families can try delicious recipes and sample fresh, in-season watermelon – perfect for the summer heat. Children will be encouraged to be adventurous and open-minded as they explore these foods, with the goal of inspiring them to embrace a variety of healthy options.

Participants in The Adventuresome Eating Club will receive seasonal recipes, learn fun facts about the fruits and vegetables featured each month, and discover creative ways to incorporate these healthy foods into everyday meals. Participants will also be encouraged to join the Adventuresome Eating Club community and share their own recipes using the featured produce via social media and photos of their inspired dishes. The program will run throughout the year, showcasing the best that Louisiana’s agricultural community has to offer.
