Summer of Exploration Camps
Summer Camp at Knock Knock is like no other camp in the Capital Region. Imagine being a scientist, a potter, a painter, an Astronaut, or even a puppeteer. This summer, all things are possible at Knock Knock.
This summer we are offering full-day and half-day camps for children 4-10 years old.
Half-Day Camps
SOUND PLAY FULL
Instructor: Ms. Hillary
Dates: June 13-17, 2022 9am – 12pm
Description: Explore sounds and beats, music and movement. Create homemade instruments, play sound BINGO, welcome guest musicians, record noises in a sound scavenger hunt, experience music styles from around the world, and become a member of a Knock Knock rhythm band!
Ages: 4-7 years old

BEYOND BUGS FULL
Instructor: Ms. Rachel
Dates: June 27-July 1, 2022 9am – 12pm
Description: Explore the biodiversity of insects in Knock Knock’s Big Backyard. Ladybugs, beetles, and crickets – oh my! Enjoy entomology stories, songs, art, and nature play inspired by a different insect each day.
Ages: 4-7 years old

Full-Day Camps
ART IN THE ROUND: SCULPTURE CAMP FULL
Instructor: Alexandra
Dates: June 6-10, 2022 9am – 4pm
Description: Explore the world of 3-dimensional art. Start every morning in our clay studio rolling, sculpting, spinning, and creating unique ceramic pieces. In the afternoons, experiment with different sculpture techniques including papier mache, plaster, and wire.
Ages: 5-10 years old

FIZZ, BOOM, POP: SCIENCE CAMP FULL
Instructor: Mr. Steve
Dates: June 20-24, 2022 9am – 4pm
Description: Explore the rules that make our world predictable in unpredictable ways. Dive deeply each day into different scientific disciplines including chemistry, physics, geology, and astronomy. Use humor and hands-on experiments to discover the roles scientific principles play in our daily lives.

PUPPET MASTERS
Instructor: Ms. Tammy
Dates: July 11-15, 2022 9am – 4pm
Description: Explore the world of puppets with special guest instructor, Tammy Mulhearn. Combine art and making to explore storytelling, social-emotional learning, and performance. Puppet camp is a collaboration with Line4Line and is part of Change the Narrative, a creative literacy program combining diverse books with art to promote print motivation, identity, agency, and kindness.

ESSENCE OF SUMMER: ART CAMP FULL
Instructor: Ms. Shauna
Dates: July 18-22, 2022 9am – 4pm
Description: Explore art through the lens of our vibrant, southern summer. Capture light, paint our rich landscape and experiment with lush textures and colors. Spend the dog days of summer at Knock Knock creating faux stained glass, birdfeeders, suncatchers, and mosaic flower pots

ASTRO CAMP™ 2022 FULL
Instructor: Alexandra
Dates: July 25-29, 2022 9am – 4pm
Description: Explore the wonders of space with the return of NASA’s Astro Camp™. Connect real-world opportunities with NASA science missions and enhance scientific understanding, all while inspiring lifelong learning and exploring.

Summer of Exploration Camp Scholarships
We are pleased to announce that Knock Knock will once again provide a limited number of scholarships for our high-quality summer camps this year. A Knock Knock Scholarship will cover 90% of the cost of a week-long camp during our Summer of Exploration.
Eligibility
Any child within the age limits of the camp whose parent or legal guardian has a current SNAP card is eligible. All applicants are required to fully complete an application and provide a photograph of a current SNAP card and corresponding adult Louisiana identification card or valid driver’s license. The completed application and documentation must be emailed to knockknockchildrensmuseum@gmail.com between April 1, 2022, and April 29, 2022. Any application received after April 29, 2022, will not be eligible.
All eligible application packets will be given a number upon receipt. We will use a lottery system to then award all scholarships. Each eligible child has the same chance to win the lottery. Priority will not be given to the siblings of winners. Therefore, an application must be filled out for each child in the household.
Scholarship winners will be notified by email. Once notified, a recipient will have 5 business days to register and pay for the camp in which they have been placed.
Your Cost with Scholarship: $32.50 Full-Day Camp
Your Cost with Scholarship: $22.50 Half-Day Camp
Important Dates
- Application Period: April 1st–May 9th
- Notification Date: May 16th
- Camp Registration Deadline: May 23rd

Notification, Registration, and Payment
On May 9th, all applicants will be notified by email if they have been awarded a scholarship or placed on the waitlist. That email will include a registration link for the camp they have been placed in. Each recipient will have 5 business days to register for that camp.
Recipients must register for their selected camp via the link provided with a credit card or, if using cash, in person at the museum on or before May 16, 2022.
If you have problems with camp registration, once notified of your scholarship, you can email the camp administrator, Hillary Perret, at camp@knockknockmuseum.org.
You must be registered by May 16th at 12 noon. If you are not registered by that time, Knock Knock will award your scholarship to the next lottery winner.
***NOTE: Once your selected camp begins, there will be no indication that your child received a scholarship.
