DESCRIPTION:Mahj Play Day\n\n\nLearn about trees and how they are beneficial to the environment!  \n\n\n\nIncluded with regular admission. \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Amelia Gilmore and Winston Horton.\n\n\n\nMeet the Outreach Coordinator Amelia Gilmore & Arborist Winston Horton from Baton Rouge Green. The team from Baton Rouge Green will teach children how trees can be habitats\, how to investigate the age of a tree\, show real nests and nuts\, demonstrate how trees receive oxygen\, and plant a tree in celebration of Arbor Day in Knock Knock’s Big Backyard! \n\n\n\nAmelia will discuss the many benefits that trees provide through an interactive display\, bring nests to show how trees can be habitats\, and nuts to discuss how they provide food for both people and animals. Children will be invited to investigate tree slices with magnifying glasses to count the rings in each slice- sharing that the longer a tree is alive\, the more benefits it can provide. Arborists will also bring nests to show how trees can be habitats\, and nuts to discuss how they provide food for both people and animals. To demonstrate how we get oxygen from trees\, there will be a demonstration of leaves submerged in water\, allowing kids to see the oxygen bubbles that are produced.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the presentation\, the guests will be invited into the backyard to observe as the arborists plant a new tree near our garden and answer questions about other trees in our Big Backyard! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS

Each week will culminate in a joyful Friday art show\, where children can proudly share their creations with family and friends. Space is limited. Advance registration is required\, and registrations are non-refundable. \n\n\n\nThe sessions take place: \n\n\n\n\nJuly 6 – 10 for children ages 5–6\n\n\n\nJuly 13 – 17 for children ages 7–8\n\n\n\nJuly 20 – 24 for 4-year-olds\n\n\n\n\nCampers will participate in a hands-on exploration in a wide range of artistic genres\, including portraiture\, still life\, landscape\, painting\, drawing\, and sculpture. DESCRIPTION:Mahj Play Day\n\n\nA new summer art camp series designed to spark imagination\, creativity\, and confidence in young children through hands-on arts instruction! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers\n\n\n\nNon-Members\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrash into art exploration this summer at Knock Knock!\n\n\n\nJoin us for a brand-new half-day camp series at Knock Knock\, Crash Creatives\, which will be offered in three age-specific\, week-long sessions from 8:00am to 11:30am. Each week will culminate in a joyful Friday art show\, where children can proudly share their creations with family and friends. Space is limited. Advance registration is required\, and registrations are non-refundable. \n\n\n\nThe sessions take place: \n\n\n\n\nJuly 6 – 10 for children ages 5–6\n\n\n\nJuly 13 – 17 for children ages 7–8\n\n\n\nJuly 20 – 24 for 4-year-olds\n\n\n\n\nCampers will participate in a hands-on exploration in a wide range of artistic genres\, including portraiture\, still life\, landscape\, painting\, drawing\, and sculpture. Campers will explore concepts such as color\, composition\, form\, texture\, and artistic styles\, including Impressionism\, Modernism\, Surrealism\, and Folk Art\, through formal yet playful instruction. Throughout the camp\, children will be introduced to the works and techniques of master artists such as Michelangelo\, Van Gogh\, Monet\, Picasso\, and Georgia O’Keeffe\, alongside contemporary and regional artists including Yayoi Kusama\, Jackson Pollock\, Clementine Hunter\, and George Rodrigue. Here\, they can make their own mini masterpieces! \n\n\n\nThe camps will be taught by beloved and respected early childhood educator “Ms. Boo” Hoshman\, who brings more than 40 years of classroom experience to the program.
