Presented by the Dodge Family Fund, the Knock Knock Children’s Museum Field Trip for Head Start, provides free field trips for pre-school Head Start classes in the Capital Region’s nine (9) parishes: East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, St. Helena, Livingston and Ascension.
Length of Field Trip
Head Start field trips are self-guided and scheduled for a 2-hour period. As the name implies, this option encourages children, along with their teachers and chaperones, to explore the museum at their own pace. Groups should arrive at least 5 minutes in advance to accommodate check-in. Field trips that arrive prior to opening or too far in advance of their scheduled visit will have to wait for entry.
Chaperone/Child Ratio
Knock Knock require one (1) adult chaperone for every five (5) children. All adults must be registered with the class registration form. Field Trips with special needs students or for certain pre-school groups can have a higher student/adult ratio with pre-authorization.
Making a Reservation
All field trip requests are made online and processed at least 30 days prior to the requested visit date. Requests will be made directly online and reserved on a first come, first serve basis. We will begin booking field trips for the 2018/2019 school year on July 1st. For more information on reservations please email fieldtrips@knockknockmuseum.org.
Lunch
Knock Knock does not have facilities for lunch. The museum is located near City Park where park benches and grassy areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
